If you've been shopping for a new Chevy truck, you've probably landed on the same question many drivers in Cheney, KS are asking: Do I go with the Chevy Silverado or the Chevy Colorado? Both are capable, dependable pickups - but they're built for different lifestyles. Understanding what sets them apart can help you make a confident choice before you visit Lubbers Cars. Chevy Silverado: Built for Maximum Capability The 2026 Silverado is a full-size truck that means serious business. It's available in 10 trim levels, ranging from the work-ready WT all the way up to the premium High Country and the off-road-focused ZR2. That kind of variety means there's a Silverado for nearly every need and budget. When it comes to capability, the Silverado doesn't hold back. With up to 13,300 lbs of available max towing and up to 2,260 lbs of available payload, this truck can handle big loads with ease. Four engine options are available, including the TurboMax ™ engine with 310 hp and a best-in-class 430 lb -ft of standard torque, the 5.3 L and 6.2 L EcoTec3 V8 options (355 hp, 383 lb-ft of torque and 420 hp, 460 lb-ft of torque), and the Duramax 3.0 L Turbo-Diesel - the only diesel in its class, which puts out 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. The Silverado also earned recognition as America's No. 1 Full-Size Pickup for Initial Quality according to J.D. Power in 2025, which says a lot about how well it's put together. Inside, the Silverado offers a spacious cabin with available tech features like a 13.4-in touchscreen, a 12.3-in Driver Information Center, wireless Apple CarPlay ® and Android Auto ™ compatibility, and available Google built-in. Higher trims even offer available Super Cruise ® hands-free driver assistance technology. Chevy Colorado: The Right-Sized Workhorse The 2026 Colorado is a mid-size pickup that’s a smarter fit for drivers who want real truck capability without the full-size footprint. If you're navigating tighter city streets or heading off the beaten path, the Colorado handles it without missing a beat. The Colorado starts at a lower price point than the Silverado, making it an accessible option for drivers who want a capable truck without stretching their budget. It's offered in several trims, including trail-ready configurations for those who like to explore. Day-to-day versatility is where the Colorado truly shines. It's easier to park, more manageable to drive around town, and still offers a proper truck bed for hauling gear. If you occasionally need a truck but don't regularly tow heavy loads, the Colorado is worth a close look. Which Truck Matches Your Lifestyle? Think about how you'll actually use your truck day to day. If you regularly tow trailers, haul heavy cargo, or need a truck that can do serious work week after week, the Silverado is the stronger choice. Its available Durabed cargo bed offers B est-in-class standard cargo volume, and advanced trailering tech makes towing feel more manageable. On the other hand, if your needs are more moderate - weekend adventures, light hauling, or simply wanting a practical daily driver - the Chevy Colorado delivers solid utility in a more compact package. Both trucks come with Chevy Safety Assist as a standard package, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, and Following Distance Indicator.
